Movie Review : Joy

Joy
This film was an outstanding film that is definitely worth checking out in the theatres it is worth your money trust me. It provides a emotional plotline surrounded with fantastic performances from the cast especially Lawrence and De Niro overall this film is another great Lawrence David O. Russell duo that dose not disappoint.

This film is about the rise of the woman who created the miracle mop who worked and scratched her way to the top until she succeeded.

Rated PG -13: brief strong language

Jennifer Lawrence : Lawrence showcases another astonishing dramatic performance!
Her performance in the latest Hunger Games left us with a disappointing judgment on her final portrayal of Katniss Everdeen but this performance defiantly redeemed my faith in her acting abilities. She plays a mother who's in debt up to her eyeballs and is trying to keep her head above water and she shows that onscreen incredibly well. The dialogue she speaks is great and the emotional range she shows in the film is heart breaking. When you see her struggle in this film and get to the point where she's screaming you are so immersed in her performance you believe she means what she's delivering onscreen. I feel when I watch her act onscreen in this film she  gets in the skin of this character and fully inhabits  her and you forget your watching her onscreen your watching the character and to see that shows she's truly gifted. She is just a force to be reckoned with in this film she gets us to really care about this character and be able to relate to her on some level. Lawrence is the most genius young gifted actress I've seen since Streep because for her age to be delivering this kind of performance is amazing no other actress I've seen so committed to the craft of acting in  a extremely long time she is the next Streep. And she deserves Oscar recognition for her performance I'm not just saying that I'm saying that because she's truly terrific in this film stealing every scene she's in with her outstanding performance. On top of her performance Bradley Cooper is back and my god the chemistry these two have you only see once in a lifetime the connection they share onscreen is magic theirs a reason they've been in so many films together because their a fantastic duo. Overall another scene stealing performance from Lawrence.

Robert De Niro : Roberts supporting performance in this film is the best performance he's given since Silver Linings playbook! De Niro plays the father of the film and when he's onscreen he plays his character to complete perfection. From the dialogue is at times funny then serious it fit De Niro's character perfectly. It's just fantastic to see him deliver another Oscar caliber performance which we haven't seen from him in a while. In this film he's funny, mean, serious and caring and the way he plays through all of that in his performance is extraordinary. At times you can't stand his character but then in another time you really care for him and that's what Robert plays so well with in this film is the emotional aspect of his performance. I haven't seen Robert give a emotional performance since Silver Linings Playbook and he taps into it again in this film which I love seeing him do because he's so good at it. He will be yelling at his ex wife at times then looking at Lawrence with heartbreaking eyes and delivering  serious dialogue like I said earlier and he plays it so well that it doesn't feel like he's just reading off a script it feels like he is that character. He's such a fantastic actor and he really shows his acting abilities shine once again in this film I would like to see him get recognized by the Academy Awards for best supporting actor because he's phenomenal in this film. Overall Robert De Niro delivers a outstanding dramatic performances which we haven't seen in a long time.

Bradley Cooper : Bradley is one of the best actors of our time and I truly mean that. He's given good performance after good performance with American Sniper, The Place Beyond the Pines, American Hustle and Silver Linings playbook and he dose it once again in Joy. In this film he doesn't appear in the film until the middle  of the film and he doesn't have that much screen time as everyone else in the film. But he dose give a hell of a good performance when he's onscreen and he makes every scene count acting it to near perfection. What I like that Bradley dose is he really commits himself to the character and entertains the audience with his flawless acting abilities and in this film he steals every scene he's in with his great dialogue to the emotional range he carries. Theirs a scene when he's sitting in a meeting and Lawrence storms in and they show a close up on his face the sheer emotion and anger you see in his eyes  and tone of voice is incredible  it truly captivated my attention in that moment making me believe he meant what he was saying he just wraps himself us in each scene of this film. From when he's angry or happy he's so convincing onscreen I'm still surprised this man has not been awarded a Oscar yet for his outstanding acting abilities but his time will come soon when he gets one because he's so gifted. He fully becomes the  character in this film and I love that he dose all these amazing transformations to see that he escapes into this character making you forget your watching him sure you know it's Cooper but you just see the character onscreen which is magnificent. Overall Cooper gives once again another great dramatic performance.

David O. Russell : David's direction in this film is astonishing! He's proven to us that he can carry a dramatic  film with films like the Fighter, American Hustle and Silver Linings playbook. He also gets award worthy performances from his entire cast not since Spielberg have I seen a director so gifted. He knows how to entertain the audience without copying something that's been done he's always original and delivers emotional films that get you at the core. He has this style of direction that is so captivating and just draws me in to watch every film he dose because theirs not one flaw in his films. And he dose it once again with Joy he got a powerhouse performance with Lawrence while he gets you to care about the characters around her and being intrigued by the plot. He delivers all of that perfectly proving that David is one of the best directors out their right now that is a force to be reckoned with overall another terrifically directed film by Russell once again.

The Lighting : The tones used in this film really brought the aspect that it was a old fashioned 1970's film which is what year it takes place. And it just brought another layer to the film to make you feel like you were back in that time period. I loved the tones great job guys.

The Cinematography : The shots in this film was great! Their not eye popping but their were some scenes that got my attention. Their is one specific Scene near the end of the film theirs a scene where it's a close up on Lawrence's face and fake snow falls on her hair and just the way the angled it was fantastic or when she's walking down the street with her sunglasses you just feel the emotional aspect in that scene. You just feel like your with her along her entire journey it was good  Good job guys.

The Soundtrack : They got some groovy songs that fit the frame and mood of the picture perfectly David has done this in his previous films and once again dose it and it's just fantastic it also was good song choices from that year that it took place in. It's worth listening to it'll have you tapping along to.
