Movie Review : The Walk
The Walk
This film tells the extraordinary true story of wire walker Philippe petit and his incredible task to walk accords the twin towers
The Lighting : Great choices for the tone of the film. What I liked in particular of what they did was in the beginning it was black and white expect for a few objects which I found interesting. Cause I haven't seen lighting do that for a long time then it put you in this 1970's vibe like you were their and felt like your in that time period. Really helped make the story flow easier and also fit the frame perfectly great job guys.
One of the best films of the year! It's a great ride from the good acting to gut wrenching walking scenes. Robert's best directed picture since Gump. This film to sum it up in words is breathtaking, beautiful and the images will stay with you long after the film ends.
Rated PG : PG for thematic elements involving perilous situations, and for some nudity, language, brief drug references and smoking
Joseph Gordon - Levitt : Best performance to date! Joseph has given over the past years award caliber performances and this one really showed people that he got be s potential Oscar nominee for this film. He really got in the skin of this character with the great accent he nailed to the way he delivered his dialogue with such passion. He delivers a terrific performance on every level soaking up every frame of the film. He's one of the actors who seems like he's destined for a Oscar win and this could be it. Reason why I said that is because he knows how to give a good performance he relates to the character on a emotional level along with getting under the skin of his role and taking himself to places we don't see usually. Which as a critic is so special to see in a actor. Like if you watch him in Looper,Don Jon or 50/50 each of those films he created different personalities with amazing performances because of his deep passion for acting and to deliver a 4 star performance every time. This particular one for the walk is nothing short of amazing we got to see different layers of him develop onscreen. We see him from when he's s young high wire performer in the streets of Paris to when he walks the towers in New York. And what you see in Joseph is amazing the strike of passion he has to achieve to walk across the world trade centre is brilliant. You can see it in his eyes Because when he would express in the film that he has to do this walk it didn't seem acted it felt like it came from Joseph's heart he meant what we was saying he wasn't pretending it which makes the performance even better. Overall one of the best performances of the year and another great performance by Joseph once again.
Robert Zemeckis: Best direction since Gump! I know that comment seems like a far stretch but I'm serious it's his best directed film since that 1990's Classic. Because what he shows in this film delivers on all levels. He had eye popping cinematography along with great acting from the cast and a beautiful score what more could you ask for. Also he gets you so invested in the story and the characters in whatever he dose but he has outdone himself he deserves a Oscar nomination for best direction for his work on this film. Because no other director has the great vision for this film the way Robert has he's so original he brings his own style to his films without copying anyone else which makes his films so entertaining to watch. Overall top notch directing at its best.
The Cinematography : One of the best camerawork I have seen all year! Why I say that is because when you watch a big extravagant film you want to be fully immersed in the film and that's what the camera deliver. Instead of watching him walk on the wire they place you on the wire so it feels like your walking on it the wind is on your back. You feel like it's real and it's also to the point of making you sick because it looks so realistic and real. Deserves the Oscar for best cinematography amazing job guys. Was breathtaking.
The Score : Alan Silvestri : Best composed score since Back To The Future! He created a score that explained the story and the music is just so beautifully composed. When he's on the wire you hear nothing but the score and it just absorbs you in the scene soaking it all up. It was very gentle and calming extraordinary score Alan is a master outstanding job Alan.
