Movie Review : Blue Jasmine

Blue Jasmine
This is one of the best films of  2013! WoodyAllen is back again bringing a original and freshness to this compelling story. With pitch perfect performances from the always amazing Cate&Sally Hawkins this film is a gem!

Jasmine is having a mid life crisis and decides to move back in with her sister until she can get her feet back on the ground.

Rated PG - 13 : For Mature Mature Thematic Material, language and sexual content

Cate Blanchett : Best performance by a leading actress I've ever seen! Cate is a phenomenal actress. We have seen her show us her great acting abilities in such films as Elizabeth : The Golden Age, The Aviator and 2007's Bob Dylan bio pic I'm not their. So their would be no surprise she would dazzle us with her brilliant onscreen abilities. But in this film she doesn't amaze us as she usually dose she blows us away. She has officially raised the bar on excellent performances by a leading actress she gave a 100% of herself in this role. She's the Meryl Streep of our generation always improving her performance better then the last. What she brought that was so brilliant and perfect about her performance was how she was able to get under the skin of this character and just destroy us with her powerful dialogue and raw emotion. When she's onscreen you can't take your eyes off her she just has this presence onscreen that is electrifying. When she's delivering her dialogue and she's sad she has tears flowing from her face just in the moment and makes it completely believable and convincing. She didn't read the pages off the script she used her real emotions and put them in this character resulting in a excellent performance. Her chemistry she has with Sally onscreen makes you believe that they have a connection and they were wonderful in all their scenes together. Overall excellent performance by Cate!

Sally Hawkins : Outstanding supporting performance! Before I saw this film I didn't know anything about Sally after seeing her in this film I will check out everything else she's in. She was amazing as the sister in this film she of course isn't in the film as much as Cate but when she's onscreen she makes the most of her scenes. She pushes herself to get you to believe she is under stress with her life and her sister and the way Sally brought that across onscreen was so powerful and entertaining. I loved her performance.

Woody Allen : The genius strikes again! woody brings the magic we have been missing from his films since Annie Hall&Midnight In Paris. Whenever you watch a film of  Allen's you know your going to be entertained because he shows us things that no other filmmaker dares to do. That's what makes him different and a legendary visionary. In this film he executes a intriguing plot line and gets great performances out of his cast along with beautiful locations for the film to be filmed in. Theirs just this vibe to the picture his style of filmmaking  to a whole new surface and never fails to entertain you. Theirs no other director who could of pulled this film off besides Woody overall another great film by Allen.

The Lighting : Very colourful and upbeat! This film is a very serious drama but layered with gorgeous landscapes and wonderful colours. What's so great about that is it brought the scene to life with all this different mixtures I loved the lighting choices for this film great job guys.

The Cinematography : Some worth mentioning shots! Theirs a scene when Sally is walking along the beachside with some man and just talking and the way the camera was able to use the landscape and the beautiful  waters while focusing on the actors was great I loved the cinematography in this great job guys.

The Score : Woody Has a great taste in music! Much of the music doesn't include lyrics it's fully composed. And he didn't stick to one composer to construct his music he picked different kinds and included them in one film which I thought was great and totally refreshing. Loved the way it was able to express emotion great job loved it.
