Movie Review : Unbroken

Unbroken
This film was a triumph about the human spirit! Jack O' Connell gives a powerhouse performance! The brilliant direction by Angelina and intriguing story. This film is one of the best films about the human soul since 127 hours.

Louis  Zamperini an Olympian athlete is in World War II and is in a fatal plane crash then is left on a raft for 47 days without food and water he then is held in a prisoner of war camp and is treated in horrible conditions but will his strong spirit overcome all odds?

Rated : PG - 13 : War violence, including intense sequences of brutality, and for brief language

Jack O' Connell : He gave such an outstanding performance!
Before I saw this film or saw the trailer for it I had no idea who Jack O' Connell was but after seeing him in this film I definitely will watch his other projects that come out in the future. The way he portrayed this wonderful character was so well done the way he looked, spoke he did an outstanding job. Also the emotional drive he has was great because he gets knocked over so many times and he refuses to break and his soul stays strong and the way Jack showed that emotion on screen was so great. The psychical condition  he went under for this film was breathtaking the way he looked so alive in the beginning then in the end when he's so damaged and hardly standing was phenomenal. He just got underneath the skin of the character which was fantastic so when he delivered his lines he meant it you could feel the emotion he put into his dialogue overall he gave an Oscar worthy performance outstanding performance Jack!

Takamasa Ishihara : He gave such a great performance!
Takamasa gave such a compelling performance as the  brutal officer of the prisoner of war camp. When he was onscreen the screen came alive with very well delivered dialogue. When you saw him onscreen you wouldn't know what he would do to Jack's character the way you see him treat Louis is so brutal and the way he expressed the emotions of his character was so believable. The strong emotions he shows onscreen was so great he had so much anger he made you believe that his character disliked Louis and the way he slipped into this characters skin and used such strong emotions was so outstanding he definitely deserves a Oscar nomination for best supporting actor. Overall a great performance.

Angelina Jolie : Angelina is a extraordinary director! She did a wonderful job directing this film. She got great performances out of her actors she had great costumes, sets a beautiful score all of it fell into place perfectly. I think she should direct more films because this movie proves she can make a entertaining film. She gets you so wrapped up into this story that she has you in tears at the end of the film because she creates such emotion in the film with great character development. She deserves a Oscar nomination for best director for this film she was simply outstanding. Great directing Angelina!

The Lighting : The lighting choices for this film was very well done since it's a war film you would expect a gritty feel to the picture she shows that but she also shows brightness then darkness so she would use those two which I thought was very well done. It brought the picture to life. Great job guys.

The Cinematography : Roger Deakins is a genius! The way he uses the camera is so beautifully well done. Their are some shots that just take your breath away. Their is this one shot when their in the raft and theirs a overhead shot of them just sitting in the raft and all you see is the water moving and the sun setting gorgeous shot. He defiantly deserves a Oscar nomination for the camera work on this film. Great job once again Roger.

The Score :  Alexandre Desplat once again gives another beautiful score! The well composed music brought the film to life and made the emotions shine brighter it was great at how the characters felt and expressing it through the music. Amazing score defiantly Oscar worthy.
