Movie Review : Nightcrawler

Nightcrawler
This film was outstanding a scene stealing performance from Jake Gyllenhaal the gripping an intriguing story was so original it was fantastic this film has you from the start and doesn't stop till the credits rolled a truly great picture.

Lou Bloom a Man who is determined to find a job stumbles upon a accident one night and takes it upon himself to start crime journalism.

Rated R : violence including graphic images, and language

Jake Gyllenhaal : Jake gives the best performance of his career. Since his outstanding performance in Prisoners last year it was no surprise that he was going to deliver another great performance. He consumed himself into this role the way he transformed himself into this character was outstanding the way he spoke &  laughed was so creppy he just got underneath the skin of the character. The emotional motive he shows is I will be the best I can be but I will also go the extra mile to achieve those goals that's what Jake showed so well onscreen. The chemistry he had with his costars was fantastic when he was onscreen with Rene&Riz the acting just flowed so naturally and seemed so real. His character was so fascinating it was like he looks like a good guy but he has a dark quality to him. That what Jake did so well at showing onscreen.  Defiantly Oscar potential phenomenal performance.

Rene Russo : She gave such a powerful performance. I have seen Rene in a fee films like Lethal Weapon 3, Yours mine & ours but not a serious and intense performance like this. In this film she plays the director at the tv network and all she wants is to do her job well and she portrays it so well she just captivates you with her great emotion. She had great dialogue when she was onscreen with Jake the acting juices so got flowing so naturally I loved her performance.

Riz Ahmed : a He gave a great supporting performance in this film. Before I saw this film I have not even heard of their actor after seeing his performance in this film I will see all of his films. He plays a guy who just wants a job and to get paid and Riz was so convincing in this role he understood the character so well when him and Jake were onscreen together the dialogue  and chemistry between them was fantastic. He was great at  understanding his characters emotions. I look forward to seeing more films  of his in the future great performance.

Dan Gilroy : Dan gave outstanding direction&Writing  on this wonderful film. He wrote an outstanding  original unique and compelling story I have not seen any film like this before which was great it was like a breath of fresh air. He had great characters wonderful dialogue. He got great performances out of his actors with great locations the music it all fell into place perfectly. It seemed very dark so you wouldn't know what Lou would do next which was great he kept you guessing until the end if the film of what was going to happen so in your mind you think you know what's going to happen but then he tricks you and it ends of being something completely different.   Great direction the writing is defiantly Oscar worthy. Great job.

The Lighting : The lighting in this film played a character because the film takes place in L.A so it is bright in the daytime then when it's night it feels like the night has come alive with all the lights but their is this kind if creepy vibe they bring to the picture which is great. Great job guys.

The Cinematography : Some worth mentioning shots in the beginning of the film theirs shots of different parts of L.A I loved the way they shot in direct locations so you got to see some parts of L.A you haven't seen before or not much of. I loved how it felt like you were with Lou the entire time by his side. Great job guys.

The Soundtrack : James Newton Howard is a genius the way he used the music in this film was fantastic it would be sometimes very quiet then it would be loud he used the music to key in with the characters emotions which I loved.  Like when they are busy reporting and video taping news all over the city the music was very fast paced. Very well composed It's Definitely worth downloading on iTunes.
