Movie Review : American Reunion
American Reunion
This film brought back the spirit of the first American Pie we feel in love with back in 99. All the cast members are back from the original film so it makes it more fun to see your favorite character back. This film is a great slice of pie.
Rated R : Strong sexual content strong nudity and language
This takes place years later since we last saw the gang. This time the boys are in their 30's and are busy with work their love life. So when they just need a break from their everyday life they put together a reunion and have a wild weekend reliving their great memories.
Jason Biggs : He gives another great comedic performance. But this time you be seeing any Apple Pie. He plays a father and portrays it so well onscreen. Because were used to seeing him being the wild guy of the bunch. You do see see that but he's more serious and committed to his family. And what Jason brought to the role is great comedic timing mixed with serious dialogue. So one minute he's talking to his wife the next he's goofing off with the guys. So he's great at switching those emotions on and off. Also the chemistry he had with his co - stars back in 99 is still their. Since they all have known each other for so long the jokes and heartwarming moments just come naturally. Briggs is always great in this role he will always be remembered for this role. But the great thing about his performance is he's unpredictable so you don't know what will happen in the next scene with his character and the guys which is great. I loved his performance another great comedic performance once again.
Alyson Hannigan : "This one time at band camp" Alyson brings once again another memorable performance as Michelle. We first met Alyson when Jim asks her out for prom. Now she's married to Jim and has a kid. The way she portrays the whole mother thing was great. Because the emotion she shows in the film is I want to be a good mother but also spend time with Jim. But she also has some great comedic scenes. So In the film she's serious, funny romantic she carries the whole package. Great performance once again.
Seann William Scott : Another hilarious performance as always. Seann raises the bar his comedic humor and on his character. Stifler as we have grown to love is sarcastic crude and unpredictable. Which he executes perfectly once agin in this film. Whenever their was a serious scene Scott would lighten the mood which is great he would get the audience laughing and give them their money's worth. The performance he gives is like a older Peter Pan a guy who doesn't want to grow up. Great performance.
Chris Klein : Gives once again another grounded performance as Oz. He's the more serious guy of the group and Chris portrays it so well onscreen. He plays a man who has everything but doesn't have everything. The great emotion that Chris brought Oz this time was wonderful. He was more serious then funny but he had his moments. He had great chemistry with his co - stars so when they in a scene together it felt real it was great. Also the bit of romance he has with Heather again was great to see we first saw them in the first film. And wondered if they would get back together. When their onscreen together it's like theirs a connection between them it's great. The great thing about Chris's performance is the emotion he gives is so conniving that when you see the expression on his face it's heartbreaking because it looks so real. Another great performance.
Thomas Ian Nicholas : He gives such a entertaining performance as Kevin once again. The great spirit he brings to the role is s the average joe character to the film. Since he's a supporting role he's not that much in it. But is entertaining through that short span he's in it. His acting abilities are great he can be serious and just relaxed in a second which is great. I loved this performance.
Eddie Kaye Thomas : When we first saw Thomas in the first American pie he was a laughing stock now he's all grown up. He has really changed since the first film he's now more proud to be who he is. The way Eddie portrayed those emotions onscreen was so striking and convincing. It was great how he was more involved in this picture more then he has in the previous films. I loved this performance.
Tara Reid : Gave another great performance as Vicky once again. She was first introduced in the first film and still has stuck in the back of my mind as Kevin's love interest. The way she brought back the Vicky we have grown to love in this franchise and bring so much spirit to it was fantastic. I loved her performance.
Mena Suvari : She did a great performance at bringing Heather back to the screen. When Oz and Heather went out in the first film I wanted them to stay together. So when you see them onscreen together the chemistry feels real. Mena's performance as Heather feels so natural and real she just become the character onscreen. It's absolutely fantastic great performance.
Jon Hurwitz&Hayden Schlossberg : They brought the spirit of American Pie back to life! When this film got pitched to the studio I was excited but concerned who was going to direct the picture that would reunite the stars from the beloved American Pie franchise. I loved the way they just brought the fun we had from the first film back. The brought the entire cast back which was fantastic and had a great script and laugh out laugh humor. The got great great performances out of their actors which was great. Wonderful direction.
The Lighting : It felt like your average blockbuster drama comedy film. Bright at the upbeat scenes and low at the emotional scenes. Great job guys.
The Cinematography : Nothing special or worth mentioning. Still Great job guys.
The Soundtrack : it felt very modern and upbeat. It had a rhythm you could dance to it was very well chosen for the film. I loved it.
