This was an astonishing accomplishment by director Edward Zwick . The Strong performances by DiCaprio& Hounsou were so powerful . The drama and suspense that they created through the story and music was great  . Overall a great film !

Solomon Vandy finds a diamond while working . He gets caught and after his son gets taken to become a child solider . Solomon then meets a Smuggler Danny Archer . They work together to recover the diamond and find his son.

Rated R : Strong Violence & Language

Leonardo DiCaprio : This is one of his most powerful performance I have ever come across . The way he spoke and delivered his dialogue was so realistic . The emotional motive he had was get the job done and Survive . He was nominated at the Oscars and deserved to win. Because he didn't read the script whenever DiCaprio makes a movie he puts himself in the skin of the character he's playing . And that showed through in this performance . Another great performance by DiCaprio !

Djimon Hounsou : His performance as Solomon was so powerful and heartbreaking . When I watched his portrayal as this character in this film you can clearly see he really put himself in this role psychically and mentally to put himself in the skin of this character . To feel what the character felt that's true commitment to acting. When Him and DiCaprio were onscreen the acting vibes just
flowed perfectly . Loved his performance !

Jennifer Connelly : She delivered such a emotional and intriguing performance as the journalist . The way she delivered her lines and just the way she looked and spoke when she delivered them was great. Her  emotional motive was she wants to get a story out of all of this and wants to show the truth behind a Diamond . This Oscar winning actress got snubbed by the Oscars for this performance . Great Job!

Edward Zwick : Best direction of his since Glory! His direction on this film was so genius the way he shot the film scouted the locations everything just fell Into place .
I have seen some of his other stuff such as Glory, Love & Other Drugs etc. this film definitely raised the bar on his direction of a motion picture . He made the thrills and suspense feel real and not forced which makes a better result for a greater movie. He deserved the best director Oscar and got snubbed hugely . Loved the direction .

The Lighting : it was different then what I'm used to seeing in big blockbuster films  . It went dark when it got emotional a more lower tone of lighting in the scene . Then when it was suspenseful  it would be bright colorful they tried different styles which I loved ! Great job!

The Cinematography : it felt so real and got the adrenaline pumping in you. When Solomon and Danny are running through the village when a attack is going on it just felt like you were right beside them through the whole journey. I loved it!

The Score : James Newton Howard made a brilliant piece of music . The brilliant beat that it had with a suspenseful tone to it was great. I highly recommended downloading on iTunes this brilliant piece of music .
