Movie Review : Spider-Man : Into The Spider - Verse
Spider-Man : Into The Spider - Verse
This film is one of the years absolute best films! This is one of the best Spider-Man stories ever captured on film and you guys know how much I love Spider-Man 2 so this film is behind Spider-Man 2 as my all time favourite it’s a phenomenal film with crisp and clear animation that just pops and crackles off the screen in astonishing amazement that looks and captures the story like straight out of a comic book. It has amazing visuals that are stunning to watch on top of the fantastic story unfolded onscreen with great heart and humour this is a film that is so much fun to sit back and enjoy its amazing it is
Spider-Man.
First off, this film is from directors that worked on Puss in Boots & Rise Of the Guardians and the last Director wrote the screenplay for 22 jump street even had a hand in directing this and all of the people involved give a Marvelous film that dose justice to the source material and really captures the lessons and essence of what we love about the web crawler. Instead of repeating the same story they use a plot line from one of the comics with Miles Morales and also to include so many other versions of Spider- Man’s forms from other versions of the many different comics was brilliant. The directors were able to showcase something that could of fallen apart so easily but due to their creative story and amazing imagination they deliver on all aspects a film that is to me the best animated film of the year and one of the best Spider-Man films ever.
It’s something new and compelling but also giving great heart and humour wrapped around it with a tightly written story that expands upon its universe and leaves you smiling.
Secondly, This film has a perfect voice cast, The actors chosen for this film were fantastic everyone involved brings their A game and gives fantastic performances. From Nicolas Cage to Jake Johnson and Lily Tomlin this film has a terrific cast. The standout I know you’d think I would say would be Shameik Moore but the scene stealer was Jake Johnson he gives a spin on the web slinger that is charismatic and very emotional but incredibly well balanced and looked effortless by its actor at the hand of it.
Lastly, The tone in this film was perfect. We have seen so many serious plot lines Peter has gone through in previous films and not to say this film doesn’t have serious elements it dose but what makes its tone here so perfect is the film uses in many aspects the same styles Homecoming did and Spider Verse goes a similar route where it has this really colourful and fun element to it but also handles its more emotional and serious moments incredibly well and it’s the sheer talent in its writers and directors of how they were able to deliver laughs without pushing it and also not making it to dark but at the same time have a serious element and overall execute it with this perfect combination with a even keel of its tones and crafting this perfect combination that just worked greatly.
Overall, Spider - Man into the Spider Verse Delivers laughs, emotion and great heart with a compelling plot line and story that will have you smiling throughout it all and enjoying every moment Spider - Man : Into The Spider Verse is the best animated film of the year and one of Spider-Man’a greatest showcases on the big screen.
This film tells the story of Miles Morales who encounters a shift in his dimension that brings him to meet Spider - Man and so many other versions of the web crawler brought into his world and he has to bring them back to where they belong before they disappear.
Rated PG : for frenetic sequences of animated action violence, thematic elements, and mild language
Jake Johnson : Jake delivers a fantastically charismatic performance of the Web Crawler! Johnson is best known for his performance on the hit show New Girl and hasn’t really showcased his abilities as a lead in a big budget film and here he makes it look effortless. He brings a loneliness and emotion to him that Maguire and Garfield did but Jake brings this worn feel to the performance that feels matured and well done. Jake plays Peter as this washed up version of Peter and it isn’t over the top or to serious but it works really well with his approach to the character and I actually loved it. Their are moments where he can break your heart with how he sees that his world has crumbled around him and wants to piece it back together and then he can be a mentor to Miles and give great advice that results in genuinely funny moments but also can bring the dramatic weight in the smaller moments. He also has great charm and wit that meshes greatly with the character and he can be so meta and give these references to what we’ve seen him do in other films and it’s brilliant he just delivers his dialogue with great emotion and he really soaks up the character and you can tell he’s having fun with the character while giving his own unique style on this iconic character. Jake Brings great emotional depth and laughs to the screen that comes across so genuine and Johnson dose the character justice with a truly captivating performance as the Web Slinger.
Peter Ramsey, Robert Persichetti Jr. & Rodney Rothman : These three filmmakers have delivered a masterful piece of work. The directors balance perfectly the tone, story and world building and execute it in incredible fashion. This film brings to light a character from one of the many Spider-Man plot lines and they use Miles Morales as the centre of it and showcase a plot that could of fallen apart so easily if in the wrong hands but they somehow pulled it off and delivered a phenomenal film that is so complex in its narrative it brings so many characters to the screen and they do it in a way that doesn’t feel rushed or to much packed into one but due to the tightly written script and we’ll fleshed out story they make it work and get you invested in each character. It also has great animation and style that makes the film pop and look like a comic book brought to life in stunning ways that truly amazes you it brings such emotion without it being to emotional they also have great moments of genuine laughs that land but not to much and it’s not a comedy and it’s able to walk such a fine line and mix both together with this compelling narrative and great tones that works amazingly well with a explosive narrative with genuinely emotional and funny moments with great world building that thrust the audience into a experience they have never had before and leave them smiling through the whole film to the every end and it’s due to the fantastic direction and great writing that this film works overall these filmmakers deliver a damn great film with great styles that meshed perfectly.
