Movie Review : Why Him?

Why Him?
This film is one of the funniest films I've seen in a while! This film is receiving such harsh reviews I don't know why it's such a fun film to watch. Not only is the story good to see and intrigue you but the comedic performances by Bryan Cranston and James Franco is hilarious. Especially Franco haven't seen him deliver such a side splitting hilarious performance since Pineapple Express. Overall this is a fun comedic film everyone should check out.

The film tells the story of a daughter who's father finds out she's been dating a guy for a while without telling the family and the family flys down to meet him and the boyfriend tries his hardest to get the family to like him especially the father but things don't exactly go according to plan.

Rated R : for strong language and sexual material throughout

Bryan Cranston : Bryan delivers a hilarious performance in this film and it's so great to see! Bryan hasn't really been doing much comedic material lately and the last project he was in that I thought he was great comedically in was Malcom in the Middle. So we know he can do comedy and he shows it greatly again with his fantastic work in this film. He is able to play the serious father but also switch and be really funny and it's incredibly entertaining to watch. He's so good in this film as well as the great onscreen chemistry he shares with Franco in the film is amazing the banter and just the way they interact onscreen is so entertaining. Cranston was able to have great comedic moments but also show moments of serious heartwarming parts of him in the film and he transitions through it so well in the film he makes you laugh and even emotional overall Cranston delivers once again another fantastic performance.

James Franco : Franco is incredible in this film! James Franco has shown us he has great talent in the comedic genre giving in hilarious performances from Pineapple Express, This is the end, and Date Night. So we know that Franco can deliver fantastic comedic performances but I have to say this is one of the best comedic performances I've seen him do in years. His timing for the comedy was brilliant all the jokes worked and really made me laugh he was genuinely funny in this film. His character was so likeable and you really felt from what Franco delivered onscreen his character really wanted to be liked by his girlfriends family. Franco delivers the laughs but also delivers serious sides to his performance and character to which was great and he had the perfect balance of it. He is fantastic in this film James delivers one of the best comedic performances with his fantastic work in this film.

John Hamburg : John dose his finest work behind the lens since his direction in Meet the Parents back in 2000! John is a fantastic director that has a talent for doing great comedy films but lately hasn't been doing so well with disappointing films like zoolander 2, and Little Fockers. Don't get me wrong I think John is a talented director but can lately has been struggling and he has redeemed himself with this terrific film. John not only got the cast perfect but also was able to get hilarious laughs from the entire cast without it feeling forced. He also put a very strong message that sense of feeling accepted by people is something everyone wants and he executes it greatly. As well the film is relatable to because every guy wants to impress his girlfriend's dad so it feels very rooted and realistic which I love. His style of direction is fantastic he just crafted a well done comedy I haven't seen him so in so long and it's great to see him do such fantastic work with this film overall great direction from John.

The Cinematography: It was great! The camerawork was fantastic one scene really appealed to me. Theirs a scene where they get a tree and Cranston's  character has a chainsaw and turns it on and just the way they did it was hilarious and just so well angled. The film also had great shots of the interior of the house liked how it made smooth transitions through the house without feeling rushed or fast. Overall good camerawork good job guys.

The Score : loved this Score! The music is very important in this film because it is a comedy film so you get melodies of silly comedic sounds but also it turns to dramatic to and can tug at your heart strings it was very well composed probably one of the best comedy film scores I've heard in a long time loved it.
